STANLIB appoints new Head of Fixed Income Credit

Johannesburg, 19 November 2025 – STANLIB Asset Management is pleased to announce the promotion of Portia Boshomane to Head of Fixed Income Credit, effective 1 November 2025. This appointment reflects STANLIB’s long-standing commitment to succession planning and the development of future leaders within its investment teams.

Portia has been a valuable member of our team for several years, having worked closely with Tarryn Sankar, her then team leader, to fully understand the scope and depth of credit in the fixed income environment. Portia first joined STANLIB as a graduate trainee in 2015. She worked in STANLIB’s Africa regions business and left to further her skillset at Momentum Group as a credit analyst. She returned to STANLIB in 2020 as a fixed income credit analyst and was promoted to senior credit analyst in June 2024. She holds a BCom (Honours) in Financial Management from the University of Johannesburg, CFA Level 1, and a certificate in Financial Markets and Instruments.

As head of credit, Portia will lead research and insights that inform the Fixed Income team’s credit investment decisions, ensuring the team maintains its record of peer-beating medium- and long-term performance. Her team will also originate suitable credit assets for investment, applying rigorous quantitative and qualitative credit analysis, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) screening.

The STANLIB Fixed Income team, one of the largest in SA, manages over R350 billion in assets across retail funds and institutional portfolios, underscoring the importance of strong leadership and succession planning in sustaining performance.
